Fund raising scam using BBCC reported

MOSES LAKE - College district residents are being warned about fraud committed by a man claiming to be raising money for a trip to Japan for the Big Bend Community College wrestling team. But the college doesn't have a wrestling team.

The man, described as young, white, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, well dressed with short sandy hair, was allegedly soliciting donations on Admiral Road on Dec. 5.

He was asking for cash donations. One prospective victim was suspicious of the request for cash, and turned him away.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of the incident, and deputies are asking for information for anyone who has knowledge of the scam. The number is 509-754-2011.
