Boy, 15, arrested in graffiti spree

| December 9, 2012 5:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - A 15-year-old Moses Lake boy is in custody and another man is being sought in connection with a string of graffiti incidents late Friday night and early Saturday.

Residents and business owners reported 18 cases of graffiti along Pioneer Way, South Division Street, Skyline Drive and Grant and Baker streets. The perpetrators tagged homes, businesses and fences, according to a press release issued Thursday from the Moses Lake Police Department.

Security cameras at some of the businesses caught the crimes on video. Police officers identified the suspects from the video, the press release said, and the teen was arrested later Saturday morning.

Officers are still looking for the adult male.

"Security cameras have proven to be an effective tool for law enforcement," said Dean Mitchell, Moses Lake Police Chief.

The police department "strongly encourages all businesses to consider installing cameras to enhance security to their property."
