Readers support Kernan in MLIRD election

| December 7, 2012 5:00 AM

In review of the MLIRD website I found a very important tag line they have displayed right in their website overview "Irrigation, recreation and caretaking of the environmental health of Moses Lake - crown jewel of our region - all fall under the District's unique water right and mission" it is with this exact thought in mind that we write to you today to express our support for Ken Kernan in the upcoming election for Director for the Moses lake Irrigation Rehabilitation District.

As long time residents of Moses Lake our family has only on a rare occasion engaged in aquatic recreation in Moses Lake due to the poor swimming quality for our two young children. Moses Lake is a small town with limited options for not only us residents, but also for tourists; without the lake, there is a major gap in what we can offer as a community.

Ken Kernan is also a long time Moses Lake resident with a strong commitment to our community. Ken knows that our aquatic health is the life blood of not only our beautiful city, but the entire Basin. Ken's ideas regarding easier water access, better swimming, boating and fishing conditions are mirrored by these citizens'. We feel confident that his ethical and moral values as well as his dedication to this community will also enable Ken to ensure protection of adjacent shoreline property values.

Please help us support our community and Ken Kernan by coming out to vote on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 1 - 8 p.m. at 211 N Elder, Moses Lake, WA.
