Reader supports Ken Kernan

| December 7, 2012 5:00 AM

I attended a meeting with Ken Kernan a couple weeks ago and came away believing he is the person we want to replace Rich Archer on the MLIRD board.

In my view, Ken's positions are what is best for the rehabilitation of Moses Lake. He believes in protecting the pocketbooks of property owners and the traditional rights of the irrigation district and that water rights need to be preserved. He knows that we need local control of the lake and recognizes the need for a conservative budget. He understands that algae, weed and silt control are what rehabilitation is. Ken is his own man and will do what is right for the lake and the voters. He has attended all but three MLIRD meetings over the last year and a half and has seen the need for an independent voice on the board. Along that line, I would like to express my support for increasing the number of MLIRD board members from three to five.
