Reader endorses Skaug for MLIRD board

| December 7, 2012 5:00 AM

I would like to put in my two cents' worth of knowledge on the two candidates that are running for the director position at the MLIRD. Ken Kernan has experience on how to work within the guidelines of a government entity. David Skaug has experience on how to work in a private enterprise. It seems that some of the problems that have risen within the MLIRD stem from the fact that they have free rein over our tax dollars, spending without the kind of oversight that is required to keep spending and salaries in check with the rest of us. Why is it so hard to get answers out of the staff? What do they have to hide?

David Skaug seems to have educated himself extensively on what is going on with our lake. He made a good showing at the recent forum for the two candidates. His dialogue seems to be to address some of the problems within the MLIRD and the issues facing our lake. I think a vote for David Skaug is a vote for progress, and to not continue the bickering that has plagued the board and staff.
