Lake, water rights big issues in MLIRD race

| December 7, 2012 5:00 AM

I am writing this letter in support of Ken Kernan for the position of director of the MLIRD. Two of the most important assests our community has to offer are the lake and our water rights. I live on the lake, and this year the aquatic weeds were so thick we could not swim or fish off our dock. This is the worst I have seen the lake in years.

We as ratepayers purchased a dredge to remove sediment and trap incomming sediment from Crab Creek. The dredge was not used this past year. I realize that there are alternative methods for removing sediment, but until they are approved, let's use the dredge while we explore these options.

In my conversations with Ken he supports these ideas. Ken has the experience to create a budget that is consistant with the needs of the district. He can work with staff to accomplish the goals that we all are working to achieve - a clean lake. If you are a ratepayer, please join us in voting for Ken Kernan for Director of the MLIRD.

Your vote is important. If you are not sure if you are a ratepayer, please contact the MLIRD office on Wheeler Road and they will assist you with the information.
