MOSES LAKE - Lowell Kirkwood recorded a triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists to help lead Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) to a 69-43 win over Cascade Christian Academy (CCA) last night.

"It was a huge win over one of our biggest rivals," coach Duke Wood said. "Lowell had an outstanding game. I've never had a player dish out 15 assists in all my years coaching, and I have been doing this a long time."

The game got of to a slow start as the Wolverines held an 8-6 lead a that end of the first quarter. But the action picked up as the Lions took a 25-16 lead into the locker room at intermission.

"We started out really tight. It was our first league game and we had a lot of young inexperienced kids out on the floor," Wood said. "But we got a flow going and were able to pick up the pace and score some points."

Up by only nine at the break, Wood knew CCA still had fight left in them and that's precisely what he reminded his team in the locker room at the half.

"I told them they needed to keep the pressure on," he said "Told them to keep pushing the ball up the court and don't let them have a chance to get set offensively or defensively."

The plan worked to perfection as Lions outscored the Wolverines 44-27 in the second half of action.

"We were in a box and one on defense and held Christopher Ringering who is probably the bet offensive player in the league to just 18 points on the night," Wood said. "Lowell played solid defense and made him earn every point he got."

Three other MLCA players who turned in outstanding efforts for the game were Clay Godfrey who scored 18 points, Noah Roberts who finished with 11 points and seven rebounds and Alec Naccarato who drained five shots from behind the arch for 15 points.

The win over CCA puts MLCA at 1-0 in league play and 1-1 overall. The Lions are back in action Friday when the team travels to Kittitas to take on the Coyotes .
