Lester Raymond Rataezyk

Lester Raymond Rataezyk, of Ephrata died on Aug 28, 2012 at the age of 72.

He was born in Nyssa, Oregon on June 26, 1940

Les was well known for his lifetime of farming outside of Ephrata. He graduated from Ephrata High School in 1958. After high school, he served in the National Guard for 14 years. Les loved restoring old vehicles and belonged to the local auto and tractor clubs. Throughout his life he enjoyed canoe racing, running, collecting and restoring antiques and was often seen in the local parades with his truck.

He is survived by his loving family, son: Brady Rataezyk and fiancé Michelle Shankwiler of Ypsilanti, Michigan their children, Max, Sophie, Ra, Donald and Sharlene; daughters: Sonya Rataezyk and Tasha Doyle and her husband Peter and daughter Lilith, all of Seattle; sisters: Mary Whalen-Cagle and her husband Larry of Ephrata and Juliana Panger and her husband George of Moses Lake; ex-wife: Judi Hoover Kanoff; and numerous other family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Stephia and Harry Rataezyk, and his first wife of 2 years, Marilyn (Sullivan) Rataezyk.

Holy rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday August 31 at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Ephrata. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Ephrata, at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 1st.
