Know your rights

| August 30, 2012 6:00 AM

Our nation is a Constitutional republic. Not a kingdom to be ruled over by whichever party manages to win an election. Both major parties have overstepped their lawful authority for years. Claiming "National-Security," or "For the Public-Good" or even to "Protect-Freedom"! Yeah right. Think presidential executive orders circumventing the separation of powers as defined in the Constitution. By design our educational system no longer teaches our founding documents and how we became the U.S.A. Students are growing up believing their rights come from what the government allows them to do. I'd also like to point out that every rule, regulation and law carries with it the unspoken threat of violence, compliance by force. Think Hitler, Stalin and Mao. Unless of course you are a member of the govt. The growing size and intrusion by government carries even more force with it. E.P.A., D.O.E., D.H.S., D.E.A., B.A.T.F & E., etc. At some point, a group of "scrappy armed revolutionaries" may again be forced to rise up and demand the rule-of-law be restored, to restrict our government to only those powers given it by our Constitution. You know, that old document they all swore to preserve, protect and uphold. It's the supreme law of the land!

A wise old black man once admonished his son that "you drink deeply from the wells of freedom that you did not dig." Most of us fit that observation. Too few are manning those metaphoric shovels. What did that other old dude say? "If you are not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." I'll work to "conserve" liberty and I'll fight to oppose the "progressive" march to "liberal" socialism. Yeah, I want to be like my Grandpa. He DID build it! And I'm proud of it.
