A great night of local racing at ERP
Cars jockey for position out of turn two at Ephrata Raceway Park.
EPHRATA - It was Pepsi Night at the Races at Ephrata Raceway Park Saturday with action packed racing from the Jerry's Auto Supply 360 Sprints, Pepsi Racing Street Stocks and Schaeffer Oil Mini Stocks.
Also added were the Kim Janke State Farm Youth Hornets for a non points race along with an Australian Pursuit race won by Austin Weber of Moses Lake.
First up on the line was the Schaeffer Oil Mini Stocks doing what I call definite "yellow flag racing." Their Heat race brought out the first yellow, and in the Main Event a yellow and a red in lap one. The race was re-started, when a second yellow came out in lap two. Two more yellows were to come out before the end of the race. JR Miner carried the lead while under the cautions flag, but once lifted, Jeff Hector executed a last lap pass to take the win over Miner and with Herbie the Love Bug (Jim Cutrell, Snohomish) finishing third.
The Pepsi Street Stocks saw Skyler Leseman take the win in the Les Schwab Trophy A Dash, A Heat and Main Event along with fast time.
The Jerry's Auto Supply 360 Sprints had a field of nine sprints that put on a great show, which included the out of town car of Rafael Kurek from the Spokane area. The 78 car of Mike Fought took the lead in lap seven when Don Kudrna broke a tie-rod and had to leave the track. Mike Fought went on to take the win.
