Sex offender to live in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Sheriff's office announced that a Level 2 sex offender registered to live in the area.

Steven Leroy Romine, 50, recently moved to the 5900 block of Road J Southeast.

Romine was convicted in 1984 of second-degree rape. At the time of the offense, both Romine and his female victim were adults. He served 26 months for that offense, and remained incarcerated for an unrelated crime. He was released Aug. 13, 2012.

He is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, 156 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinguishing marks include a butterfly tattoo on his chest, flowers tattooed on his back, a tattoo reading "Debbie" on his right hand, and a scar on his right forearm.

While in prison, Romine declined to attend sex offender treatment. The sheriff's office stressed that Romine has served the sentence and is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. He is only required to register.

As a Level 2 sex offender, Romine provides a moderate risk to re-offend.

Level 1 offenders are considered unlikely to re-offend, while Level 3 offenders are considered the highest risk.
