Noble, Barnes, DeLeeuw, Demuth win Li'l Abner golf tournament

CRESCENT BAR - Wilma DeLeeuw, Judy Barnes, Don DeMuth and Jeff Noble combined their efforts on Aug. 8 to win the Crescent Bar Men's Club's annual mixed foursomes Li'l Abner Golf Tournament.

"The weather was a little hot, but so were our golf clubs," said organizer Wes Prinzen. "Joe Quintanilla and many others helped put on a fantastic tournament."

Raffle tickets were sold in the morning, and the profits will go to a local charity. After play, lunch followed at the activity center, with a menu of chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, rolls, cake and beverages.

The winning teams were:

First place - Don DeMuth, Wilma Deleeuw, Jeff Noble, and Judy Barnes with a score of 53.5.

Second place - Bob Wells, Donna Wells, Tom Harris, and Jan Harris, 57.75.

Third place - Wes Prinzen, Carol Prinzen, Paul Enquist, and Margaret Linder, 57.87.

Fourth place - Joe Quintanilla, Gloria Trevethan, Bill Sprague, and Mavis Bennett, 59.12

Fifth place - Larry Ward, Nadene Ward, Tom Thompson, and Eileen Thompson, 59.87.

Closest-to-the-pin (KP) team winners on holes No. 3 and No. 12 were Jerry Hoene, Eileen Hoene, Mario Brena, and Vicki Brown at 4-1.5.

KP team winners on holes 5 and 14 were Riddle, Elaine Duda, Terry Price and Robin Price at 41-1.5.

Accuracy drive team winners on holes 1 and 10 were Orlan Wood, Jan Hagenston, Larry Strong and Stephanie Strong.

Longest putt on holes 9 and 18 went to the team of John Kiehl, Mary Woolverton, John Hall, and JoAnne Hanson.

Winners of the Poker Run were Terry Price, John Kiehl, Frank Laine, Jan Harris and Don DeMuth.
