EPHRATA - An Ephrata apartment was all but demolished by a fire Friday morning.
Residents of the Chinook Apartments at the 400 block of Basin Northwest saw their neighbors apartment go up in flames around 4 a.m.
Fire officials say the 700-square-foot home was roughly 80 percent burned by the time fighters arrived on scene.
The two people living in the dwelling were unharmed.
A kerosene lantern ignited the fire. The renters had their electricity turned off previously, and were using the lantern and candles for light.
