Duel in Desert a big success

MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Economic Development Council's (GCEDC) Duel in the Desert Aug. 3 and 4 at the Moses Lake Golf Club and Moses Pointe was a huge success.

The GCEDC's biggest fundraiser of the year brought in $23,000. The proceeds will be used to attract new business to the county.

The two-day tournament men's team winners were from REC Silicon (first place) who shot 249, and Maiers Development (second) with a score of 254. The mixed team from Pillar Rock Realty took first with score of 242, and the team from Clifton Larsen and Allen placed second with 252.

Mike Schoner was closest to the pin at the Moses Lake Golf Club. Bill Hinkle and Darrell Appleby won longest drive for the men, and Teresa Carlsan took top honors in the women's longest drive category.

At Moses Pointe, it was Schoner (0-15 handicap) who was closest to the pin, along with Torry Lanning (16 + handicap). Jennifer Colley was closest to the pin in the women's division. Schoner won the men's longest drive (0-15 handicap) and Pat Jones, for the 16 and over handicap.

Shelly Lewis won the longest drive award for the women. Prizes were given out to each winner.
