Olympic athletes taxed

| August 10, 2012 6:00 AM

The U.S. Womens Gymnastics Team won the Olympic gold medal in London recently. After the team's last member performed and joined her team mates to await the judges decision, did anyone else notice what I did? The faces of those young girls all reflected what has made America the super-power it is and the country people will risk death trying to reach. I saw white, black, oriental, and other blends of ethnic origins in the smiles of those American faces. With all the problems within our country and government, it's nice to see individuals allowed to sacrifice and struggle as hard as they choose to reach goals, with a minimum of governmental interference. Except of course the Internal Revenue Service demand for as much as 35% of any cash bonus that comes with winning a medal. Geeze, really? Fifty percent of Americans don't pay income tax. But we need to whack our Olympic athletes for money earned on foreign soil, while trying to represent us! Rats, just when I was feeling so proud to be a American.
