Chiefs drop match to Eisenhower
Play was halted during last night's match against Eisenhower as the Chiefs captain Derrick Gonzales was helped off the field.
MOSES LAKE - Athletes and coaches are known to be very superstitious. Find something that works and stick with it, even if it means wearing the same shirt, tie or underwear for days or weeks at a time.
If your team is on a losing streak or a player is in a slump, the tendency is to mix it up and change things around.
Well, that's what the Chiefs attempted to do to break a three game losing streak as they broke out their gold uniforms for a match against the Cadets at Lions Field last night.
But, unfortunately the apparel didn't ward off the bad juju as Moses Lake dropped the game 1-0 to Eisenhower.
The loss puts the Chiefs at 5-5 and into a fourth place tie with Walla Walla in the CBBN standings.
It looked as though the match was headed for overtime as Moses Lake and Eisenhower battled back and forth through three quarters of the game without producing a score.
But, with three minutes left in regulation play, the Cadets Cristian Tejeda rocketed home the lone goal of the contest to give the visitors the shutout win.
The Chiefs are back on the pitch tomorrow night when they match up with the Moses Lake High School alumni at Lions Field at 7 p.m.
Moses Lake travels to Walla Walla Saturday for a game with the Blue Devils. The Chiefs end the regular season on the road at Davis May 3.
