Sheriff's office dedicates fallen officers memorial

EPHRATA - The Grant County Sheriff's Office is formally dedicating a memorial to fallen Grant County law enforcement officers.

The Fallen Officers Memorial will be unveiled Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Grant County Law and Justice Center, 35 C St. NW in Ephrata.

Members of the public are invited to attend the dedication ceremony, which will be broadcast live to iFiber Channel One television subscribers and streamed live on the Internet at www.ifiberone.com, according to the Sheriff's office.

The granite memorial bears a cast bronze plaque in honor of Grant County Deputy Sheriff John Bernard, who died in a line of duty vehicle collision Jan. 3, 2010, as well as space for commemorative plaques recognizing any future fallen law enforcement officers. in Grant County.

The memorial was constructed with donations from several Grant County citizens and businesses, including the Jerry and Chriss Allred family, the Wiley and Maria Allred family, the Justin and Annalee Brown family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Schell, Mr. and Mrs. Burr Beckwith, Norwest Ingredients, Inc., Western Polymer Corp., LTI Inc., the Grant County Peace Officers Association and anonymous donors.
