Quincy tennis splits with Toppenish

QUINCY - The Jacks boys team lost all five of their matches against the Wildcats, but the girls won three of five to salvage a split with Toppenish Tuesday.

Girls

The girls got off on the right foot taking the first two singles matches. The Jacks No. 1 singles Ciara Rasmussen defeated Yessica Regis in two sets, 6-1, 6-0. Sara Rigby, the No. 2 singles followed suit with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Andrea Padilla. But Quincy's No. 1 doubles team of Ashley Breeden and Blanca Romero dropped their match in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 3-6 to Katherine Ayala and Courtney Stancliffe.

The Jacks No. 2 doubles bounced back with wins over their opponents. Sara Horning and Robin Thaemert beat Karina Morales and Belen Lustre 6-2, 6-2 but the No. 3 doubles lost the last match of the day for Quincy as Antonia Valenzuela and Naoma Garcia were beat in two sets 2-6, 0-6 by Samantha Zuno and Samantha Cuella.

Boys

It was a rough outing for the Quincy boys as they dropped all five of their matches. The No. 1 singles Samuel Gregg lost to  Ruben Martinez 6-7 (3-7),1-6. James Bensch, the No. 2 singles was beaten by Reymundo Enciso 1-6, 2-6. The No. 1 doubles team of Sonny Fregoso and  Rollie Ronish III were turned back by Gavin Reynolds and  C.J. Stauffer, 2-6, 1-6, Levi Jimenez and Jacob Durfee  the Jacks No. 2 doubles lost in two set to Nick Huylar and Ricardo Palmas, 1-6, 1-6, and the No. 3 doubles Daniel Reyes and Austin Karstetter dropped their match to Enedeo Garza and Jose Patino 2-6, 3-6. Quincy hosts Ellensburg Saturday at 10 a.m.
