Girls relay does it again
PASCO - The Moses Lake High School girls track team finished 13th out of 54 teams from around the Pacific Northwest that participated in the Pasco Invite Saturday at Edgar Brown Stadium.
The Chiefs were led by the 4x100 relay team of Kayla Grigg, Alysha Overland, London Cleverly and Diamond Ransom who broke the record they set last week (50.05) finishing with a time of 49.71.
Although it wasn't good enough to take first in the event, the girls did place fifth out of 32 teams that entered the relay. Kamiakin took first with a time of 48.84.
"The girls did an outstanding job at the invite," coach Nicki Weiland said. "The 4x100 relay team continues to make big strides as they continue to better their times each meet."
Overland also set a personal record and broke a 22 year Moses Lake High School record in the 300 hurdles as she finished third with a time of 45.44. London Cleverly set a personal record in the 400 meters with a time of 60.71.
"Alysha's finish was really impressive as she competed against some very talented athletes," Weiland said. "This is only the fifth time she's run the hurdles ... I couldn't be more proud of her."
The Chiefs have their first varsity home meet Thursday when they host Richland, Walla Walla and Eisenhower at 4 p.m.
