EPHRATA – Grant County Commissioners have announced the selection of Dr. Robert J. Schneider as the new Director of Grant County Emergency Management.

Schneider was the City of Redmond’s Emergency Manager for 16 years. He was responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures related to emergency planning, training, education, and emergency preparedness activities.

Schneider has also worked for local governments, public school systems, and non-government organizations in California.

Schneider earned his doctorate from Saint Mary’s College of California, where he also received an M.A. in Educational Administration and a B.A. in Business Management, with a focus on emergency management planning.

Schneider replaces Sam Lorenz, who retired in August of 2011 after 30 years of service to Grant County.
