Big Bend holds job fair
MOSES LAKE - Big Bend Community College holds its Job and Career Fair April 19.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the college's ATEC building, at 7662 Chanute St. NE, Moses Lake.
It features many of the same employers featured in past years, as well as new employers: ChinaSoft International and Pacific Coast Canola.
"It is exciting to see the new companies and the opportunities they represent for jobs, economic development and positive change for Grant County," said Rebecca Milligan, chair of the job and career fair committee.
Employers attending the fair include companies involved in manufacturing, food processing, retail, service industries, health care, aerospace, education and technology.
People have an opportunity to learn employment requirements for companies such as SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers, REC Silicon, Microsoft and Boeing.
"There is no other place in this area where you can touch base with so many employers in one location and in one day ... We like to see the national employers, but we're always grateful for the continuing support over the years from our local employers," said Milligan, who added the fair gives job seekers the opportunity to interview companies.
"It is also a great opportunity for those not looking for a job right now to discover who the key employers in the Grant County area are and what they are looking for in employees," she said.
WorkSource and SkillSource, who partner with the college to develop workshops and activities for people seeking jobs, will move its employment office resources to Big Bend for the day. People can attend workshops to help them prepare for job interviews, complete applications and write a resume.
