KENNEWICK - It was a cold gloomy day at the Southridge Invite Saturday. But the weather conditions didn't dampen the Chiefs efforts as Moses Lake placed fourth at the meet.

Several Chiefs turned in stellar performances in the successful turnout, placing first and or setting personal bests.

"The Chief that stepped up the most was senior Jared Crowell.  He long jumped a PR of 20'1" which earned him a second place finish overall," coach Kevin Whittall said. "His first place finish in the triple jump of 41'2" was his best jump of his career.  That was a great jump. It was awesome to see it all come together for him."

Junior Lee Ransom, Whittall said, also had a good day at the track.

"This was Lee's first race of the year and he came out huge winning the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.18," he said. "That was the fastest time ran all year for any other Chief athlete."

Parker Johnson finished second in the event with a time of 11.41.

The Chiefs 4x100 rely team of Justyn Simmions, Johnson, Ransom and Brooks Milbrandt took top honors in their event with a time of 44.81. Cameron Law finished second in the pole vault event with a vault of 12'6", and the 4x400 relay team of Jamie Carpentar, Ransom, Lowell Kirkwood and Alec Schweisow placed third with a time of  3:45.93. Cameron Ballard took fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5'10", Sam Welch finished fourth in the 200 meter dash (24.02) and Schweisow set a personal best with a fourth place finish (4:46) in the 1600 meter run. Dylan Darlington set a personal record of 10:53 in the 3200 meter run, which was good enough for sixth place.

Moses Lake boys track is back in action April 7 when the team hits the road to participate at the Davis Invite in Yakima.
