Barbara Jean Grant, 71, a resident of Moses Lake for 51 years, passed away Tuesday morning, March 27, 2012 at home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Moses Lake. Barbara was born on March 9, 1941 in Atlantic Mine, Michigan, daughter of the late Frederick and Marion Korpinen. She was raised and educated through Jr. High School in Rhinelander, Wisconsin when the family moved to Longview, Washington where she graduated from R.A Long High School. She received her L.P.N. degree from Lower Columbia College and planned to work at Samaritan Hospital, but decided to stay home to raise her children. On September 3, 1960 she married Robert "Bob" Grant and they made their home in Moses Lake. Barbara was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the PayLess Birthday Club. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, (especially Bridge) and gambling. Most of all she loved spending time with family, and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Grant; 5 children, Chris and Jeff White, David Grant, Annette and Bob Hammerstad, Jeff and Tess Grant, Gary and Julie Grant; one brother, Don and Kelly Korpinen; one sister, Laura and Henrik Mygind; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Ken and Rick and two nephews, Jon, and Mathew Korpinen.
Barb would want, in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions to be made to her two favorite charities: Camp.Stix.org, P.O. Box 8308, Spokane, WA 99203 for Juvenile Diabetes or to C.O.T.A. at http://cota.donorpages.com/patientonlinedonation/COTAforBrianW/ for Cystic Fibrosis.
