Ephrata boys take third at Southridge
KENNEWICK - Andrew Whalen shot 70 and Aaron Whalen carded a 78 to help lead Ephrata to a fourth place finish at the Southridge Invitational Wednesday.
The Tigers finished with 319 team points. Southridge took first with 302 to edge out Richland by a stroke at 303.
"The guys played well in a very tough front nine. The greens were fast and with the windy conditions it was impossible to keep the ball close to the hole if you were putting with the wind," coach Greg Hewitt said. "Andrew played solid shooting two under par and taking second. He started off bogey, bogey on the first two holes and finished the front nine two over. He shot four under (32) on the back nine."
Byran Heer turned in an 82 for the Tigers, and Tyler Jansz and Zach Dwyer finished with an 89 on the day.
"As a team I felt we played well for the conditions," Hewitt said. "Everyone kept it in the 80's or less."
Ephrata is out of action over spring break, but is back on the links April 3 when the team takes part in the Lee Dolquist Memorial Tournament at Apple Tree.
