OTHELLO - The Huskies tennis teams took one on the chin at home Wednesday as the girls and boy lost their matches to the Bulldogs.

The Huskies girls singles split with Ellensburg as No. 1 singles Amelia Roylance was shutout by Nathalie Gruber, 6-0, 6-0, but the No. 2 singles Keesten Anderson beat Taylor Willis in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to knot things up. The Bulldogs took two of three doubles matches however, to win the competition 3-2. The loss drops the girls record to 0-3 on the season.

Othello doubles got off to a good start as Yanitta and Jocelyn Cantu defeated Mary Keller and Tessa Connolly in three set 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. But the Huskies lost the next two matches as the No. 2 doubles Katrina Montemayor and Bethany Vargas dropped their game in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 1-6, and No. 3 doubles Christina Murillo and Aracei Flores lost their match in two sets 1-6, 2-6.

"The girls battled through some mentally tough matches," coach Robert Pruneda said. "KeestenĀ  was put at singles for the first time and did a great job. Her serves and rallies were impressive. She split sets, but made some good adjustments. Yanitta and Jocelyn came out flat lost the first set and regrouped with stringer net play and serves to win the last two sets."
