Three persons of interest in Quincy homicide

QUINCY - Quincy Police detectives have identified three persons of interest in connection with he shooting death of Ramiro Muñóz Jr. in Quincy on Sept. 23.

One of the men, Eddie Alvarez Hernandez, 23, was in custody on Sept. 28 on a Department of Corrections hold.

The other two men were still at large as of Thursday morning. They are Gerardo Miguel Valenzuela Navarro, 18, and Erwin Vazquez, 20.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to contact the Quincy Police Department at 787-2222 or a local law enforcement agency.

The shooting occurred in the 100 block of First Avenue NE. Police responded at 11:20 p.m.

Grant County Coroner concluded that the cause of death was a gun shot wound to the chest and that the manner of death was homicide.

Quincy Police reported, at first, that the shooter and victim were members of the same gang. Investigators clarified later that Muñóz, 40, was not affiliated with any gang at the time of his death.
