Home not so sweet for Royal soccer

| September 30, 2011 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - Homecoming week ended up going overtime for the host Royal Lady Knights soccer team on Tuesday.

The squad played host to rivals Connell and would ultimately fall 1-0 in double overtime, their second consecutive extra-time loss in four days.

Royal lost to Mabton in overtime over the past weekend.

"We played much better and worked for one another, but a goal proved difficult for both teams," Royal head coach Jens Jensen said. "It ended 0-0 and looked to stay that way into the second overtime period, but a ball played quickly forward by a Connell midfielder surprised our defense and a Connell attacker broke free and found the back of the net.
