Royal drops volleyball match to Burbank
ROYAL CITY - The Royal girls put up a good battle, but their struggling volleyball season continued after a five-game loss at the hands of Burbank.
The Knights started on the right foot, taking the first game, 27-25. Then they stumbled, 10-15 and 18-25, before winning again 25-21. They dropped the final game 8-15.
The loss left the Knights with a 0-1 South Central A Conference East record. They are 0-5 overall. But coach Paul Olsulfka is not disheartened.
"I'm very proud of the effort from the girls. We are improving with every match," he said.
Olsulfka played some young girls to give them varsity experience. He was happy with their "spirit and heart."
Lindsey Christensen had a big game for the Knights. She put down nine kills, served up four aces and made 21 digs.
Ashlyn Allred made 23 of 25 serves, 12 digs and five kills. Madison Stakkeland had 13 digs, Katie Ellis had 14 digs, Kayla Smith had six kills and Tahlia Ledezma had 19 assists.
