Robbery, assault leads to arrest
MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake police arrested a 38-year-old woman in connection with an assault and robbery on West Peninsula Drive.
Virginia Delafuente, Moses Lake, was booked into the Grant County Jail Friday for robbery in the first degree and assault in the second degree, according to Moses Lake Police Capt. Dave Ruffin on Monday.
The female victim reportedly told police she was assaulted with a hammer at about 9:45 a.m. before Delafuente took her purse and fled the scene.
Delafuente and the victim were acquainted, Ruffin stated.
Shortly after the incident, the suspect's car was located traveling east on West Broadway Avenue, where Delafuente was arrested.
At least one man was initially detained along with Delafuente, although she was the only individual arrested.
"There may be charges forthcoming on the others," Ruffin stated.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 509-764-3887.
