Warden volleyball defeats Soap Lake

WARDEN - The Warden Cougars improved their record to 8-3 in the 2B Central Washington South Conference with a three set (25-12, 25-21, 25-9) win over Soap Lake Tuesday.

The Eagles (2-9) provided little resistance for the home team that's bound for district playoff action Nov. 5.

"We wanted to finish strong in this match to begin building some momentum going into the tournament," coach Dennis Treat said. "The girls didÊgood workÊin sets one and three, but Soap Lake battled us to the end in set two."

Keisha Urwin had the hot hand for the Cougars, leading the team with eight kills and 10 digs. Haley Yamane had six aces, eight assists and seven digs, Iris Rodriguez added five aces and three kills, Abby Richins contributed two aces and went 6-for-6 serving, Genesis Gonzalez was perfect from the serve line connecting on all 11 attempts, and Hannah Bisnett finished with four kills, six blocks and six digs.

"Soap Lake has improved this year," Treat said. "We could not afford to look past the Eagles tonight."

Warden hosts Entiat in the last regular season match of the year Saturday, and will move on to district play win or lose, Nov. 5.

The match against the Tigers gets underway at 11 a.m.
