Wahluke girls fall, 2-1, twice in soccer
MATTAWA - It was a tough week for Wahluke soccer last week. The Warrior girls fell, 2-1, twice.
The second defeat, at Goldendale, was particularly disappointing. Coach Arthur DeVictoria had expected a win.
"It might have been the long bus ride. It may have been the early morning," DeVictoria said. "But, for whatever reason, we were not ready to play."
The lone Wahluke goal was scored by Berenice Garcia on an assist by Patty Hernandez.
The first loss was to Connell. The Eagles had the wind in the first half and used it to press a constant attack.
"We withstood an offensive attack that lasted 40 minutes," DeVictoria said.
Both teams scored in the second half. The Wahluke goal came from Talia Barajas on an assist by Jessica Martinez.
The two teams were tied, 1-1, after two overtimes. Connell won in a shootout.
