Mattawa Chamber sets meeting

| October 21, 2011 6:15 AM

MATTAWA - The struggling Mattawa Area Multicultural Chamber of Commerce will have a meeting on Nov. 9.

The meeting will be held at the Port of Mattawa office. It will get under way at noon.

The MAMCC is low on membership, and there seems to be no president or vice president. And members aren't sure who the treasurer and secretary are.

The last meeting, held on Aug. 10, had only six members present. They were Mike Thiede, Bob Adler, Curt and Tammy Connor, Richard Leitz and Kassandra Watson.

Watson, who announced the November meeting, noted the focus will be on the MAMCC's mission statement and officer nominations and elections.

The leadership challenge arose in July when the then-president resigned. It was discovered that the vice president had been elected in absentia and that that name was not recorded in the minutes.

"Anyone interested in being, supporting or voting for an officer must attend the Nov. 9 meeting," Watson said.

In addition to carrying out current secretary duties, Watson will file, develop end share all additional communications, statements and/or by-laws in support of vacant positions until the Nov. 9 meeting, Watson said.

Watson noted there is an open invitation to any and all residents of the greater Mattawa area to attend and/or become members.
