Georgia Ann Buchheim, 83, of Royal City, WA, died peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011 at her home in the presence of her two loving sons, after a short battle with lung cancer.

Georg was born on September 4, 1928, in Genesee, WA to George and Ester (Snelson) Wernecke.

She grew up and attended school in Pomeroy, WA. As a young girl she became interested in music and sang with several country music bands, including one with her brother Patrick. She was also her dad's "right hand man". She continued singing and playing country music her entire life.

She met and married the love of her life, Howard Buchheim, and they raised two sons, Pat and Bud. Howard and Georg owned the Phillips 66 station in Walla Walla, WA. Later they owned and operated Buchheim Trucking, moving them to Royal City 41 years ago. Georg was one of the first lady truck drivers in the States of Washington and Oregon. She and Howard developed the Royal Coachman Trailer Court and she was owner/manager of the Royal Motel.

Georg became a very active member of the community, serving on the Chamber of Commerce, City Council, 3 terms as Mayor of the City of Royal City, Junior Miss Chairman, Judge and chaperone, in 1984 Grand Marshall and Citizen of the year. People said, "She put Royal City on the map!" She enjoyed gardening, designing and building floats for the Jr. Miss Program but most of all she loved "ROYAL KNIGHTS FOOTBALL" and is known as the Football Grandma. She had her own reserved parking spot at the field which she was very proud of. She was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Royal City. She loved animals especially her dogs and cats.

Georg is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her four siblings; Thelma Oxford, Violet Bundy, Walter Wernecke, and Patrick Wernecke. She is survived by her two sons Patrick (Lyda) Lowrance, Kennewick, WA and Bud Buchheim, Burbank, WA, three grandsons and nine great grandchildren.

Georg was a real "get things done" kind of woman and always willing to help where needed. She was known as Grandma George to so many and she will be missed by all who knew her.
