Wahluke Warriors drop two in volleyball
MATTAWA - Coach Rudi Christian made changes in her line-up and approach, but the Wahluke girls continued to struggle last week in high school volleyball.
In the first match, a 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 loss to Kiona-Benton, Christian moved girls into new positions and created a new rotation. The same six girls played the entire match.
"The six girls who were on the court played hard and stepped it up," Christian said.
Cassandra Villalobos had a good night. She served up 10 aces and made 10 digs. Maripaz Olivarez had five kills and six digs.
Later the Warriors were stopped by Mabton, 25-23, 25-9, 25-17.
"Great defense all night, but our offense struggled," Christian said.
Villalobos led the way with eight kills, 10 digs and 11 perfect passes. Olivarez had 14 digs, and Tanya Mendez had eight.
