THANKS: Reader thanks Wilson Creek students
It seems that all we hear these days is what is wrong with everything and everyone. I feel it is high time we focus on the positive!
We had many positives in our community of Wilson Creek, the good people of our town, our pretty location and especially our great school. Our school has record enrollment this year. We have many who send their children here by choice.
The reason I am writing this letter is to commend the students in the Future Business Leaders of America group who stepped up when the "burned out" adults in the community decided to drop our annual "Harvest Fest." These students and their advisor Jackie Floetke, with only a month to work with, organized the high school and middle school students and produced a wonderful community celebration. A parade, many entertaining booths, a quilt show, barbecue and a community dance made for a great day for all.
In addition to putting on Harvest Fest, the students held a community clean up day and painted the equipment in the skate park prior to the celebration.
I would like to give these students the thanks they deserve on behalf of the rest of the community. This was a community service at it's best, a wonderful gift to us all.
