Warrior girls drop two in volleyball

The Warriors played a good game third game against RV, losing 25-23 and then won one of the four games with Cle Elum.

"The girls played the best they have all season against Cle Elum," coach Rudi Christian said. "They stayed intense every play and worked together the entire night."

The loss to RV was by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-23. The good play of the last game carried over to the first two games of the Cle Elum match with CE winning, 26-24 and Wahluke winning 25-20.

But the Warriors eventually faltered, falling 25-22 and 25-19. Nevertheless, all four games were good.

"There were long volleys in each game, and we came out on top on each long volley," Christian said. "The girls never gave up. There was strong net play from Tanya Mendez, Marleny Garcia ands Cassandra Villalobos."

Marleny Garcia and Villalobos led at the net offensively with six and five kills respectively. Garcia served seven aces and made four digs. Villalobos had 10 perfect passes and 10 digs.

Wendy Garcia had three aces, 11 digs and six assists. Tanya Mendez had eight digs. Jessica Ledezma had eight digs and four assists, and Maripaz Olivarez had nine digs.

In the CE match, Villalobos had six kills, 10 digs and 19 perfect passes. Marleny Garcia had five kills and seven digs. Mendez had five kills and 10 digs. Ledezma had six digs.
