Power outage shuts down REC
REC Silicon's Plant 4 in Moses Lake. The company received approval to become a subzone of the Port of Moses Lake's foreign trade zone, eliminating tariffs and fees for importing and exporting.
MOSES LAKE - Power was out for REC Silicon and Eka Chemical in Moses Lake and some Warden customers Tuesday.
About 50 light industrial and residential accounts were believed affected in Moses Lake, according to Thomas Stredwick, a Grant County PUD spokesperson.
Figures weren't available for the Warden outage.
The outage may have been because of an problem with distribution feeders, according to Stredwick.
Damaged circuit switches were found at the Silicon Substation and Sieler Substation in Moses Lake and required repair before power was restored, he stated.
It was expected that power for any remaining industrial customers served by the Silicon Substation and Sieler Substation was restored by 1 p.m., Tuesday, according to Stredwick.
Near Moses Lake, portions of the Larson-Wheeler 230 kilovolt line were reenergized and power was restored to the Wheeler Substation and Upper Coulee Substation.
