Wilma Brizendine

Wilma H. Brizendine, 85, a Moses Lake resident for 52 years and teacher in the Moses Lake School District, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 22, 2011 at home surrounded by family. Wilma was born on September 1, 1926 at Sugar City, Idaho, the daughter of the late William and Alice Myrtle (Holcomb) Hinckley. She grew up and attended school in Rexburg, Idaho. Following high school she worked various jobs in banking and as a secretary. She was married to the late Luther J. Brizendine, June 30, 1950 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and they made their home in Ephrata. In 1952 they moved to Houston, Texas. They moved to Moses Lake in 1959 where Wilma worked at Basin Produce before becoming a secretary at Frontier Jr. High. In the mid-late 1970's she was encouraged to go back to school and became a teacher. She taught in the Moses Lake District at Longview and Larsen Heights, retiring in 1993.

Wilma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2nd Ward. She enjoyed traveling around the world and the East Coast with friends and family. She was an avid follower of the Moses Lake High School Sports teams especially wrestling and basketball, traveling to state tournaments in Ellensburg and Bellingham.

She is survived by three daughters, Kaylene Farmer, of Umatilla, Oregon, Christine Anderson and Joanne Brizendine both of Moses Lake; nine grand children, LuRon, Leslie, Ian, Jolene, Traci, Tyler, Kory, Cody and Casey and fifteen great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, William R. Hinckley, three grandsons, John David Crowe and Barry and Scott Anderson and one granddaughter, Robynne Anderson.
