Vikings mens basketball in search of three-peat

MOSES LAKE — The Big Bend Community College Mens basketball team has its eyes set on winning its third Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) Eastern Region championship in a row this year.
The Vikings, under the tutelage of head coach Mark Poth, now in his 25th year at the helm of the mens program, thinks the team goal is entirely within reach.
“We feel we have a competitive team that hopes to challenge for another Eastern Region championship,” he said. “We have a great group of young men who we feel will represent our program, college and community in a positive fashion.”
Players returning to action this year include Blake Skidmore, a 2010 All-NWAACC team member, who is expected lead the attack for BBCC. Spencer Pingel and Antonio Snow who played two years ago, but sat out last year with a knee injury, is also expected to play a big roll for the team. Brandon Funston will red-shirt this year as he recovers from knee surgery. Ten players are new to the program this season.
BBCC finished with a 24-6 record last year and are currently 7th in the NWAACC Alaska Airlines pre-season basketball poll.
The Runnin Vikes season gets underway Dec. 2, as the team takes on Linfield College at the Walla Walla Classic.
