| November 24, 2011 5:15 AM

ROYAL CITY - A select number of Red Rock Elementary fifth graders recently expressed themselves in writing about Thanksgiving. Their letters follow:

I am thankful for Red Rock Elementary school. I am thankful for Red Rock because my teacher Mr. Skeen teaches fifth grade science. I really like and enjoy science because we learn new things every day. That's why I like going to Red Rock Elementary.

 Jovanny

I am thankful for the school being nice to me. They are nice to me and respect me. I am thankful for my school, the teachers and students.

 Diana

Thanksgiving means to me when you meet with your family to celebrate Thanksgiving. In Thanksgiving, we bake a turkey and other foods. When your family is eating you could talk to your family about work, school and other things. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because I could hardly see my family. That is how you celebrate Thanksgiving!

 Odalys Campos

I am thankful for a lot of things. First of all comes my family. My grandpa had to go through rough times for my mom and my mom had to go through rough times also for us. She has to work all day in the fields with my dad. Also I am thankful for my dad and how even if he is tired he still works until the end. Last, I am thankful for my grandparents.

 Israel Corona

I am thankful for many things, but here are a few of them. I am thankful for the best teachers ever. I think they are the best because they are super nice and I still keep in touch with my teachers from the past years. I am also very, very thankful for my family. They are loving and help me when I need it. I am thankful for lots of things, but those are what I'm most thankful for.

 Taylin Chamberlin

I am thankful for many things but I am most thankful for my family. I love my family so much because some people don't have families. My family helps me with my homework and school. My family pays for me. They buy me food, clothes, school supplies, and many more. Because of my family, I can have a wonderful life.

 Abigail Delay

I'm thankful for my mom and dad. I'm thankful because my mom brought me to this world. She fed me, changed my diapers when I was little. She cooked for us. She also worked so we had everything we needed. I'm thankful because she works so hard so my brother Favian, my sister Beatrice, and I could go to school. My daddy is the one who bought our clothes, our food, and paid for the house, and the bills that needed to be paid. I'm mostly thankful to God. I'm thankful because he's the reason why us, the humans, that animals, and nature are here on planet earth. God gave us air to breathe, he made fish, goats, turkeys, cows and many other animals be sacrificed so animals and humans can eat. Those are the things I am thankful for.

 Fernanda Gomez

I'm thankful for many things. Here are five. One thing I'm thankful for is my family because they love me. Another thing I am thankful for is my teachers because they teach me things like math and reading. A third thing I'm thankful for is Taylor Swift because she writes good music for me to listen to. A fourth thing I'm thankful for is water because you can't live without it. The last thing I'm thankful for is Maui, HI because its a good place to vacation. That is what I'm thankful for.

 Reese Burke

I am thankful for my mom because she helps me do my homework. Also I am thankful for my teacher Mr. Ziegler because he is funny and nice. I am thankful for my friends because they respect me and I respect them and there responsible too. I am thankful for my dad because he's nice to me and buys me things.

 Amairami Moreno Alvarez

I am thankful for teachers. I am thankful for teachers because they help you learn so many new things. They help you make good decisions and find out what is right and wrong. They encourage you to do new things and find their hidden talents. The teachers make you happy when your sad. Man I am thankful for teachers.

 Kaylee Janett

I am thankful for my mom for giving birth to me and my dad for helping my mom to take care of me and my brother picking me up when I fell on a giant rock. My little brother too because he makes me laugh a lot. That is what I'm thankful for.

 Cithlalli Garcia Contreras

I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my family because without my family I would not survive. I would not have anyone to take care of me, to feed me, to comfort me, not even someone to raise me. I am lucky to have a family like mine. I am thankful for my family.

 Osiel Ramirez

I am thankful for my mom because she cleans the house, mops the floor, and makes our food. I like to help my mom around the house. I like to be thankful to my mom in November.

This is what I'm thankful for. I'm thankful for having parents that love me and take care of me by working hard to take me to school to learn and have a better future. Also by having food on the table when I'm hungry and looking after me by curing me when I'm sick. I'm thankful for my mom and dad having clean clothes for me that not many people have in their life  and for having a house to sleep in to not be outside in the cold wind when I'm cold.

My mom and dad are so nice that I get things to play with like a soccer ball, a football, or a basketball. I really appreciate my mom and dad buying me many things like a dirt bike to ride on and have fun when I'm bored. I learned that being a parent isn't very easy to take care of children, and that's mostly why I'm thankful to have a mom and dad.

I am thankful for the country to give me the liberty to educate myself, to express myself, and to have the rights to be a good kid. I also am thankful for the community which takes care of our country from the gangsters. I'm thankful to have a school that worries everyday to make us people better students.

 Joshua Estudillo

I am thankful because we have the money to go celebrate. My parents and I use to not have that much stuff when we came from Mexico. Now I'm thankful we could go to celebrate with family on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
