'Ninety-nine Percenters' to hold Moses Lake rally
MOSES LAKE - Local advocates of the "We are the 99 percent" movement are holding a rally Thursday evening in Moses Lake.
The rally is from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the sidewalk along East Broadway, between Dominoes Pizza and Walgreens Pharmacy, according to organizer Carolyn DuVall with the Grant County Democrats.
The event is timed to coincide with a national call to action by the "99 percent" movement, which for months has been protesting perceived imbalances in the economic system.
"We're starting to get the 1 percent to pay attention but this system's still rigged against us," the group's website states. "Wall Street is still making billions and taking our homes and Congress can't pass a jobs bill. To amplify the economic emergency we're making Thursday, Nov. 17, a massive day of action to show 'we are the 99 percent.'"
DuVall invites attendees to bring a sign with a message of their choosing and to dress warmly in preparation for a walk along East Broadway to the Alder Street Fill.
"Join us when you get off work or while on your way home, take a few minutes to make your voice heard," she said. "You don't have to be there the whole time."
