COULEE CITY - Derek Isaak ran for 254 yards on seven carries and scored five touchdowns to lead the Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) Warriors to a convincing 64-24 win over the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats Saturday.

The victory advances ACH to the quarterfinal round of the state 1B playoff's against the Touchet Indians (8-2) Friday night at Lions Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

"It (the win) was a nice way to start the playoffs," coach Brandon Walsh said. "The kids played tough. We are looking for a solid game from Touchet."

ACH put three touchdowns on the board in the first quarter of play on a 5-yard Colin Deyarmin run, a 64-yard interception return and a 62-yard run by Isaak. All three 2-point conversion runs by Deyarmin were good and the Warriors led 24-0.

The Wildcats answered back with a score and a 2-point conversion to get within 24-8 as time expired.

The high-octane Warrior offense cranked it up another notch, scoring four more times in the second quarter on two TD runs by Deyarmin and a 60-yard punt return and 21-yard run by Isaak to stretch ACH's lead to 50-8. Wilbur-Creston put another eight points on the scoreboard as the half came to an end to get a bit closer at 50-16.

The Wildcats rang up the first eight points of the third quarter, but ACH, not to be outdone, answered back with 14 to close the door on Wilbur-Creston 64-24.

Ground and pound offense and tough defense were the major points of emphasis as the Warriors ran for 379 total yards, while holding the Wildcats to 154. Neither team had much of an air attack as Wilbur-Creston threw for 90 yards on nine attempts. ACH finished with 14 yards passing.

The Warriors, looking to make a deep run in post season play, take on Touchet Friday at 7 p.m. at Lions Field.
