Ruth Markow

Ruth Markow, 94, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at her home, her loving family at her side. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church. Viewing will be from 10 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14th at Kayser's Chapel. Ruth was born on February 15, 1917 in Belfield, North Dakota daughter of the late Elmer E. and Katherine A (Henry) Martin. She attended school in North Dakota earning her Teaching Certificate at State Teacher's College in Dickinson, North Dakota. She met Raymond at the Lutheran Young People's League and they were married on June 1, 1941 in Elgin, North Dakota. Ray and Ruth farmed in North Dakota from 1945 until 1968 when they moved to Moses Lake. Ruth taught elementary education in North Dakota and Washington. Active people, Ruth and Ray enjoyed senior activities in and around Moses Lake. Ruth was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church where she played the organ for many years.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in law, Sharon and Ron Grandpre and Marnie Markow, both of Moses Lake; one sister, Mable LaBonte, of Post Falls, Idaho.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, one son, Mitchael, one daughter, Bonnie, one brother, Ervin Martin, one sister, Alene Huffman, and two grandsons, Craig and Casey Grandpre.
