Some races still too close to call
EPHRATA - Another day, another ballot count.
The Grant County Auditor's office released the latest election results Thursday afternoon, although there are still an estimated 250 ballots left on the counting table.
Returns reveal a voter turnout of about 47.5 percent for the election, which will be certified Nov. 29.
A few Grant County races are still serving as proof that every vote matters.
In Soap Lake, Barney Berg and John Glassco are neck and neck for city council position 3. Glassco has captured 213 votes to Berg's 205, or 50.96 percent to 49.04 percent.
Charles Fogerson holds a 16-vote lead over Steve Wellein for Grant County Hospital District 4 position 3, 50.73 percent to 49.27 percent.
What on election night in Coulee City was an evenly split race between Lorna Pearce and Truman Crisler for city council position 3 has become a difference of four votes, with Pearce on top 51 percent to 49 percent.
Grant County elections administrator Sue Ramaker said an automatic recount is triggered for any elections with margins less than half of one percent of the total number of votes.
Candidates can ask for a recount at any time, she added, although they have to pay for self-requested recounts.
