ACH football district champs

WELLPINIT - Colin Deyarmin ran for 113 yards on two carries, and scored three touchdowns to lead Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) to a 40-0 win over Wellpinit Friday.

The victory sealed the District 7 1B championship for the Warriors, and sets up a crossover match up with Wilbur-Creston Thursday at 6 p.m. in Coulee City. The winner will move on to the first round of the state tournament.

"We played pretty well on both sides of the ball," coach Brandon Walsh said. "It's not easy to get a shut out in eight man football, but we have been focusing hard on defense the last month or so and it's really paid off."

ACH got on the board early and often as the Warriors put up 20 points in the first quarter on a 48-yard run by Deyarmin and an 18-yard pass from Derek Isaak to Thunder Wellhausen (2-point run by Deyarmin).

The Warriors, clicking on offense and defense, held the Redskins scoreless for two quarters of action, while putting up another 20 points on a 28-yard Brock Streeter run, a 7-yard run by Isaak, a 61-yard TD pass from Isaak to Deyarmin, and a 65-yard dash by Deyarmin, to shut out Wellpinit 40-0.

"Colin had a spectacular catch and run," Walsh said. "He found the end zone after making made at least three guys miss tackles on his way down field."

ACH amassed 365 total yards, while holding Wellpinit to 133.

The win for the Warriors sets up a cross-over game against Wilbur-Creston to determine the entrant to the state playoffs.

"We feel pretty confident going into the game," Walsh said. "They are our closest rival geographically, so it will be easy for our kids to get up for it. If we shut down their quarterback, who likes to run the Wildcat offense, we have a good shot at winning and moving on."
