National alert system to be tested

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The first nationwide test of the National Emergency Alert System will be conducted by the federal government on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
The test will include Alaska and Hawaii and the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa. It will begin at 11 a.m. Pacific time and last up to three minutes.
The Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct the test. It will interrupt radio and television programming. After the test, regular programming will resume.
