Daniel L. Munter
1944 - 2011
Dan died suddenly in a farm accident in a place that he loved with people that he loved.
He was brought up in Moses Lake, Washington, attended Big Bend Community College and Washington State University. He graduated from WSU in 1967 with a BA in Geology. His love of rock collecting produced a career which carried him to many places of the world: copper mining in Arizona; definition of a moly deposit in Utah; exploration mapping and sampling in Maine and Canada; work in Ireland. He was chief geologist for seven years at one of the country's largest mines in Papua New Guinea.
Dan served in Vietnam 1967 -1969 with the Army Corp of Engineers.
He and his wife, Celia, enjoyed 45 years together. They have two children, Christopher (wife Marina), a carpenter living in Moses Lake, Washington; Anne, a teacher in New York state. They have four grandchildren, Karen, Michael, Jessica and Carly. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters
Grave-side services will be held at the Sweet Cemetery in Sweet, Idaho at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Gathering for a meal afterward will be at the Syringa Club in Sweet. Arrangements are with the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent for the scholarship fund at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake.
There will be an Open House where we can share memories of Dan and celebrate his life, on Saturday, November12, in Moses Lake at the Day Star Gym, located 6378 Arnold Dr. NE, from 2-4 pm.
