ACH football tops the league

ODESSA - The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors accomplished their mission in fine fashion to capture the 1B Northeast South Conference with a 64-20 win over arch rival Odessa Friday.

The victory sets up a showdown with Wellpinit for the District championship game Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Wellpinit.

"I thought we played very well ... it was one of our more physical wins of the season," coach Brandon Walsh said. "The kids flat got after it on defense and were really flying around."

ACH put the only points on the board in the first quarter on a 1-yard run and 2-point conversion by Derek IsaakÊto go up 8-0. The Warriors picked up where they left off in the first, ringing up the initial points of the second quarter on a 22-yard run by Colin Deyarmin and a 2-point conversion pass from Isaak to Thunder Wellhausen to increase the lead to 16-0.

Odessa closed the gap to 16-7 early in the second quarter, but ACH answered back with a 70-yard run by Deyarmin (2-point conversion failed)to stretch the score to 22-7. Both teams put another six points on the scoreboard as the half came to an end with the Warriors in front, 36-12.

ACH outscored the Tigers 30-8 on the strength of four Isaak touchdowns to run away with the game 64-20 and set up a rematch with Wellpinit.

The Warriors ground and pound running game churned out 531 yards for the game. Deyarmin rushed for 281 yards on 18 carries and Isaak added 222 yards on 16 carries to lead the way. Brock Streeter finished with 28 yards on four carries.
