A hooked shot that won

CRESCENT BAR - Dick Brown tells a funny story about running out of golf balls on one of the early occasions he played at Crescent Bar Golf Course.

Brown hit his tee shot left into the pond near the No. 3 green that day. When he went to his bag to get a new ball there weren't any. He asked his playing partner for a ball, but he had only the one he was  playing.

"Would you believe it, only two balls between the two of us," he said.

Brown had no choice but to hope and look for the ball. He went around the trees and in short order yelled to his friend to join him.

"The level of the water had gone down in the inlet, and there were balls everywhere in the sand, probably 50 or more," Brown said.

The two golfers filled their bags with balls, some of them brand new.

The moral of the story: It's all right to go left some times.
