Othello girls move up ranks
SPANAWAY - After a ninth place finish at the Class 2A state finals in 2010, the Othello Lady Huskies bettered that mark with a sixth place result at this year's tournament that wrapped yesterday at Lake Spanaway Golf Course.
Delaney Towle shot a two-day score of 180 to finish in 17th place and the junior was joined by teammate Paulie Garza who scored a 190 as the two girls who made the cut helped Othello to the upper echelon finish.
"It was exciting for Delaney especially with her having an eagle on hole number eight which was 300 yards," Othello head coach Heather McDonald said. "Delaney would like to drop her score eight to ten strokes for next year to be even more competitive. Last year we were ninth so it shows that we had some young kids that wanted to excel in golf and take lessons and play, play, play. That's what makes the difference."
Othello finished with a team score of 28.5 points. Bellingham won the team title with 119.50.
Ephrata's Kelsey Sage shot a 181 over two days to end up in 20th place for the Lady Tigers.
